NORTH CYPRUS YACHT CLUB FOUNDED

The Sailing, Motor and Rowing Federation introduced the new North Cyprus Yacht Club at a cocktail party which took place at the Colony Hotel in Girne on Monday 9th November.

The President of the Federation, Zeki Tasci made a speech saying the TRNC does not yet have the necessary infrastructure for the maritime sector and that sailors and officials should meet and solve their problems together.
“We are still using the harbours from the Venetian and Lusignan periods in both Girne and Gazimagusa. We do not have the facilities for our yachts. The citizens of the TRNC are unable to bring their own yachts to the country and keep them here”

If the harbours in the TRNC were sufficient, thousands of people with yachts would visit the country each year. They would pay to berth their yachts and they would also leave revenue in the country as they would eat, drink and repair their yachts here.

The North Cyprus Yacht Club participated in the presentation of awards for those who were successful in the photography and fishing contests.
