Turkish airlines fly to Birmingham

Turkish airlines have just announced new routes from Istanbul to Birmingham International Airport. The flights start next week and will be daily except for Wednesday and Saturday. Turkish Airlines runs 21 flights a week between Istanbul and Heathrow, 7 to Stansted and 10 to Manchester. There are numerous daily flights from Istanbul, directly into Ercan airport which takes just over 1 hour.

Global Warming: Time to adapt to a desert climate. (Cyprus Mail 4/12/2008)

'Cyprus has to prepare for more extreme heat and less rain' reads the front page headline in last weeks edition of the Cyprus Mail. The director of the energy, environment and water research centre says that the ratio of water being used versus water available gives Cyprus the biggest water problem in the EU.

The Thalassa Build is currently ahead of schedule, therefore, we wish to announce that due to the Bayram holiday next week closely followed by Xmas, the majority of our workers will not be on site. Construction will continue as normal in January 2009.

Heated Pool

Sharon Management have informed us that due to the high costs in running the heated swimming pool coupled with the low occupancy rate at the moment and following consultation with the committee it has been decided that it will not be heated for the time being.

Gym access

Sharon Management have now installed a combination number to prevent unauthorised access to the gym. They are e mailing all owners with the number. Please contact Sharon management direct with your name and apartment number, should you require the number.

King’s Bar is located opposite block 51. It is open 7 days a week from 11.00 am to 01.00 am. They serve lunch from 11.00 to 13.00 and dinner from 19.00 to 21.00. On Sunday they serve drinks and Sunday lunch.

Tennis and Basketball. Courts are available 24 hours. At night there is a floodlight system. (The switch is located by the courts)

Swimming Pools. There are 7 Swimming Pools of varying shapes and depths so suitable for children. Before entering any Swimming pool please shower to remove sun cream etc, this will reduce filter faults and will help to keep the monthly maintenance rates low.

Pavement around the complex is for pedestrian and bicycles usage only. It is ideal for walking, jogging, running etc.

Table Tennis is located on the ground floor of the Sports Centre Building in the north eastern part of TBV.

Gym is located within the same building on the first floor. It is outfitted with ultramodern equipment, air-conditioning and satellite TV.

Laundry Room is located on the ground floor of the gym building, under the staircase. It costs 5YTL per wash and 5YTL per dry.

Minigolf for the whole family. Golf Clubs can be obtained from Sharon Management.

Turtle Bay Village is surrounded by wire fences and gates to protect the landscape and greenery from goats and sheep. Therefore, please close the gates behind you.

Heated Pool at Turtle Bay Village

Just to keep you informed, Sharon Management started to heat pool 7 but found that the small pump which circulated the hot water is not working properly. The suppliers Demirdokum are no longer in business and so the warranty is no longer valid. We have contacted Cyprus Pools who were responsible for supplying the pools and they will send someone either, later today or early tomorrow to investigate the problems.

On the 10 November Sharon Management ordered and had delivered 400 litres of diesel at a cost of 830 ytl. This lasted 7 days. We have now ordered and had delivered 700 litres of diesel at a cost of 1,400 ytl. We felt you ought to be kept up-to-date with the costs.

Food and beverages

Following a number of suggestions from Turtle Bay Village owners we are looking to create a cafe area in the downstairs area of the gym building- we are currently offering the lease as rent free for the first year and then £300 per month thereafter. We will keep you posted on progress.

Winter Maintenance Tip

As winter is fast approaching and the rains are imminent, could all penthouse owners please remember to ensure that all drains on their roof terraces and balconies around their property are clear of any leaves, debris etc.

Beach Area

Further work is to be undertaken on the beach area-this will commence next year so that it is ready for the summer season. Sharon Management have been asked to clean the beach regularly of any litter etc. We will keep you posted on progress.

In order to keep you all updated with the progress on site we have been issuing a monthly newsletter.
